Project-specific tolerance, control and independent checks
Professional UAV platforms, LiDAR sensors, high-resolution cameras
CASA operating requirements and the nominated project standard
Drone 3D mapping can support existing-condition capture, earthworks surfaces, visible progress and broad site context on Brisbane projects. The scope should separate those uses from set-out, hidden services and critical hard features that need direct ground measurement.
Project teams should provide the approved site extent, coordinate system, tolerance, features and file formats before capture. For major transport and precinct work, asset-owner access and data requirements also need to be confirmed. See our Brisbane 2032 surveying resources for related planning topics.
New to the method? Our drone surveying guide covers methods, deliverables, accuracy factors and limitations.
A measured site model before pricing means quantities, batters and access are known up front, not discovered mid-contract.
Design surfaces and staged DTM comparisons keep bulk earthworks on budget across large Brisbane sites.
Regular flights document works in progress and produce the as-built record engineers and councils ask for.
Civil projects across Brisbane and Queensland — road upgrades, rail corridors, drainage networks and greenfield subdivisions — run on terrain data. Our drone mapping captures kilometres of corridor in a single mobilisation, producing DTMs for design, cross-sections for earthworks and machine control surfaces for graders.
On TMR and council-managed works, the data is tied to survey control and delivered in the formats consultants and contractors specify. For national projects, the same capability is available through our drone surveying services.
Long-format mapping along upgrade corridors for design, drainage and property impact assessment.
Surface models around rail corridors for construction access, spoil management and monitoring.
Terrain models for stormwater design, batters and bulk earthworks on SEQ release areas.
Drone volume surveys can support stockpile reconciliation and cut-and-fill tracking without requiring staff to walk every pile. A defensible comparison still needs an agreed base surface, calculation boundary, survey date, control, checks and a record of material movement between captures.
For ongoing operations we schedule regular flights so quantity trends stay current across the project life. See our mining drone survey service for national coverage and reporting detail.
From feasibility to subdivision, developers across Brisbane and SEQ use 3D drone data to de-risk decisions. A drone 3D mapping survey shows exactly what sits on a site before you commit: existing vegetation, drainage patterns, steep batters and available view corridors — all in a model your design team can load straight into CAD.
Submission requirements vary between councils, consultants and asset owners. We plan the mapping against the current project brief, including datum, feature coding, tolerance and file format. For a full rundown of our local capability, see our drone surveying in Brisbane expertise page.
Quick, accurate site models for due diligence before purchase or option decisions.
Surveyor-backed aerial data and plans that sit cleanly inside council application packages.
Terrain models for staging earthworks and documenting each phase of delivery.
Every drone 3D mapping project ends with surveyor-reviewed deliverables your team can use immediately, in the formats your design software expects.
A georeferenced aerial image of the site, true to scale and ready for CAD and GIS overlays.
Bare-earth and surface models for design, drainage analysis and machine control surfaces.
Design-grade contours at the interval your project requires, tied to survey control.
LAZ exports for engineering and BIM software, classified ground and surface points.
Cut and fill quantities or stockpile volumes with the calculation surfaces shown.
Coordinates and check points so every deliverable can be independently verified.
Review of purpose, access, airspace, terrain and accuracy needs.
CASA-compliant flight plan and ground control placement.
RTK-corrected drone flight, with LiDAR where vegetation or detail demands it.
Models processed and checked against ground control by a professional surveyor.
Files delivered in the formats your design team needs.
Drone 3D mapping uses overlapping photographs, LiDAR measurements or both to represent the visible surface of a site. The processed outputs can include an orthomosaic, point cloud, terrain model, contours or a volume report. The project brief should identify the coordinate system, control, checks and intended use of each deliverable.
Accuracy depends on the required product, sensor, flying height, surface visibility, site geometry, survey control, independent checks and processing method. Vegetation, water, reflective surfaces, deep shadow and moving plant can create gaps or uncertainty. We confirm the project tolerance and check plan before capture rather than applying one accuracy figure to every site.
Deliverables are selected for the project rather than bundled automatically. Options include a georeferenced orthomosaic, point cloud, digital surface or terrain model, contours, CAD linework and volume report. We confirm the coordinate system, vertical datum, feature requirements and file formats used by the receiving design, construction or asset team.
Include the site boundary, purpose, required features, project coordinate system, applicable specification, required deliverables and known access or airspace constraints. For a repeat survey, also supply the earlier surface, calculation boundary, control information and assumptions so the datasets can be compared on the same basis.
That depends on the submission and the receiving authority. Council, TMR and other asset owners may prescribe the survey method, datum, feature coding, tolerance and file format. Provide the current project specification before fieldwork so the capture and deliverables can be planned against the actual requirement.
